Uterine fibroid embolization
This procedure involves injecting microscopic spherical particles into the arteries supplying the fibroids. This is typically done through a small incision in the wrist while patients are comfortably sedated. Patients are typically discharged the same day with medications for pain control and are follow-up.
Fibroids are benign growths (not cancer) that grow in the uterus and are very common in women. Having fibroids does not increase your risk of cancer. Unfortunately, these growths can cause symptoms that affect quality of life.
This is an effective alternative to surgery that preserves the uterus, cervix and ovaries. Also, there are no big incisions which leads to decreased recovery time and limits complications. There is quick return to normal activity.
Excessive bleeding during menses, anemia, pelvic pain and heaviness, bowel and bladder disturbances, enlarged uterus, interference with sex, infertility.
This is typically an outpatient procedure performed under sedation in our surgical center. The procedure is performed via the arteries, typically a tiny incision at the wrist, and the blood supply to the fibroids is blocked. Patient’s are typically discharged the same day with pain medication.
Surgery such as hysterectomy and myomectomy
Hormonal Medications
In our practice, which includes board certified Ob/Gyns and Vascular Interventional Radiologists, we bring our expertise to provide optimal treatment for each individual patient.
Fibroids without any symptoms do not require treatment. Symptoms that may occur include excessive/frequent bleeding or pelvic pain as well as symptoms related to abnormalities related to bowel or bladder function.
Most insurances will typically cover uterine fibroid embolization. Please contact us for additional details and to set up a consultation.

Peripheral Arterial Disease
This procedure involves opening clogged arteries. This is done by inserting balloons, stents, and plaque-busting devices (atherectomy devices) into the diseased portion of the vessels. Typically, this is done as an outpatient and involves a small incision in the thigh, foot, or wrist. Patient are closely follow-up in our vascular lab to ensure adequate and sustained therapeutic response.
Interventional radiology treatments often offer faster recovery times and less risk of complications than traditional surgery, making them a desirable option for many patients. It’s important to note, however, that each patient is unique, and the choice of treatment should be individualized based on the severity of the disease, the patient’s overall health status, and other related factors. Find out if you are a candidate for this minimally invasive treatment. Take our quiz
Peripheral arterial disease is decreased blood flow to the legs which is due to arterial narrowing or blockage.
High blood pressure, smoking, diabetes, high cholesterol or triglycerides, family history of vascular disease, obesity, inactivity
Peripheral arterial disease is actually very common. In the USA, it is estimated to affect 7% of the adult population, approximately 9 million people, and this number is likely to rise.
Leg pain or cramping with exertion or exercise, foot wounds or ulcers, cool skin, loss or thinning of leg hair, no or weak pulse.
They require endovascular treatment when lifestyle modification and medications alone do not address symptoms and/or cause patients to limit their normal activity and become more sedentary. If left untreated, it can lead to severe symptoms such non-healing wounds and loss of limb.
This is usually an outpatient procedure in our surgical center performed under sedation. The procedure is performed via the arteries, through a tiny incision at the wrist, thigh, or ankle, and the blood supply to the blocked artery is restored. Patient’s are discharged the same day with follow-up instructions.
Most insurances will cover evaluation and treatment of peripheral arterial disease. Please contact us for additional details and to set up a consultation.

Varicose Veins and Venous Disorders
There are a variety of promising treatments for varicose veins. Most involve a combination of vein ablation and sclerotherapy to treat both the painful and cosmetic effects of the disease. This is an outpatient procedure and patients are followed-up in our vascular lab to ensure adequate treatment.
Varicose veins are enlarged/rope-like veins that are swollen and often painful. They can be purple, blue, or skin-colored. They can occur anywhere on the legs from the groin to the foot.
Spider veins are similar to varicose veins but smaller and closer to the skin surface. They aren’t usually painful but can cause significant distress due to their appearance.
Varicose and spider veins can be a sign of an underlying vein/valve problem (venous insufficiency/venous reflux disease).
Heavy, aching, painful, or tired legs that are worsening with standing and throughout the day, itchy legs, restless leg syndrome, bleeding veins, skin discoloration
They are caused by abnormal valves within the veins. Veins bring blood back to the heart and when these valves fail, there can be blood backing up and pooling causing varicose veins.
Obesity, pregnancy, prolonged standing, family history, prior venous disease
Approximately 50% of American suffer from some form of vein problem. Unfortunately, most people are unaware of available treatments.
This is an outpatient procedure performed in our clinic. The procedure is performed via a tiny incision at the thigh, knee, or ankle to treat the diseased veins. The abnormal vein is blocked using thermal energy or medical grade glue. Sometimes, we use other treatments such as sclerosing agents to treat the abnormal vein. Patient’s are discharged the same day with follow-up instructions.
When conservative therapies such as life-style modification and compression stockings do not relieve symptoms, patient’s are typically candidates for treatment after being screened with ultrasound.
Most insurances will typically evaluation and treatment of varicose veins and venous insufficiency. If veins are treated for cosmetic reasons alone, insurance will not cover it. Please contact us for additional details and to set up a consultation.
