have you been diagnosed with Frozen Shoulder?

Are you struggling with shoulder pain and stiffness? Discover a revolutionary way to relieve frozen shoulder?

say goodbye to pain and stiffness!

What Is Frozen Shoulder?

Frozen shoulder, also known as adhesive capsulitis, is a condition characterized by stiffness and pain in the shoulder joint. It typically develops gradually and worsens over time before improving, often lasting for one to three years.

What is adhesive capsulitis embolization?

Adhesive Capsulitis Embolization is a modern interventional radiology technique designed to alleviate the symptoms of frozen shoulder. This condition causes severe pain and stiffness in the shoulder joint due to inflammation and thickening of the shoulder capsule. ACE targets the blood vessels supplying the inflamed area to reduce inflammation, pain, and ultimately improve shoulder function

What to Expect During The Procedure?

Positioning:You will lie on an X-ray table in a position that provides the best access to your shoulder.

Sterilization and Draping: The insertion site (groin or wrist) will be cleaned and sterilized to reduce the risk of infection. Sterile drapes will be placed around the area.

Catheter Insertion: A small incision will be made at the insertion site. A catheter (a thin, flexible tube) will be carefully inserted into your artery and guided towards the blood vessels supplying your shoulder using imaging techniques like fluoroscopy (real-time X-rays).

Embolic Agent Delivery: Through the catheter, tiny particles or microspheres will be delivered into the target blood vessels to block them. This process reduces blood flow to the inflamed shoulder capsule, helping to decrease inflammation and pain.

Monitoring: The radiologist will monitor the procedure continuously using imaging to ensure accurate placement of the embolic agents. The procedure typically lasts 1-2 hours.

Completion: Once the embolization is complete, the catheter is removed. Pressure will be applied to the insertion site to stop any bleeding.

Why You Should Consider Embolization Treatment For Frozen Shoulder

Why consider embolization treatment?

1. Skip the Surgery: Embolization is a non-surgical approach, meaning it avoids large incisions, reducing the risks and complications associated with traditional shoulder surgery.

2. Tiny Incision: The procedure involves only a small puncture to insert a catheter, resulting in minimal scarring and a less traumatic experience.

3. Local Anesthesia: The procedure is performed under local anesthesia with light sedation, so you stay comfortable and awake without the need for general anesthesia.

Fast Recovery and Convenience

5. Outpatient Procedure: Unlike surgery, embolization is typically done on an outpatient basis, so you can return home the same day.

6. Quick Return to Activities: Most patients experience a swift recovery, allowing them to resume daily activities much sooner than they would after surgery.

Effective Pain Relief

8. Targeted Treatment: Embolization directly addresses the inflamed blood vessels in your shoulder, reducing pain by decreasing inflammation at its source.

9. Rapid Results: Many patients experience significant pain relief within weeks, with continuous improvement in shoulder function over time.

10. Long-Lasting Relief: By reducing the blood supply to the inflamed tissues, the procedure helps prevent recurring pain and stiffness.

Improved Shoulder Mobility

12. Reduces Stiffness: The procedure helps alleviate the stiffness that limits your shoulder’s range of motion, making it easier to move and use your shoulder normally.

13. Enhances Function: With reduced pain and inflammation, you can regain better control and flexibility in your shoulder, improving your overall quality of life.

Safe and Well-Tolerated

15. Proven Safety: Embolization is a well-established procedure used for various medical conditions and is performed by specialized interventional radiologists.

16. Fewer Complications: Compared to surgery, embolization has a lower risk of complications like infection or significant blood loss.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I am a candidate for Adhesive Capsulitis Embolization (ACE)?

Adhesive Capsulitis Embolization is typically recommended for patients with persistent frozen shoulder symptoms that have not responded to conventional treatments such as physical therapy, medications, or steroid injections. A comprehensive evaluation by our interventional radiologists will help determine if ACE is the appropriate treatment for your condition based on your medical history, severity of symptoms, and overall health.
